I became a yoga teacher in 2014 after studying with Tribe Yoga in Austria and received my second (5oo hour) certificate from The Shala Yoga House and Now Yoga in 2016.

After years of experimenting with different styles of yoga classes, I was introduced to the Mysore room. There, I was challenged to be independent in my practice. I had to memorize the sequence, I had to develop discipline and learn to face my own aversions through practice. In 2015, I made my first trip to Mysore, India to study with Saraswathi Jois. I returned to India in 2019 to study with the late Sharath Jois.

I am now pursuing a PhD in clinical psychology at The New School for Social Research. My practice has changed to accommodate my rigorous academic program, and I have grappled what it means to be committed to something over time, through life’s different seasons. Losing Sharath has further complicated this question, but has also reminded me of the deep ties and history that connect me to this lineage. In this and other ways, my practice continues to amaze me and reveal possibilities I could never imagine. I am filled with gratitude for my teachers Barbara Verrochi and Kristin Leigh and my community at The Shala.

Right now, I am not taking on new students, but I am always happy to make referrals to the excellent yoga teachers who I am privileged to know.
